PASTOR and prophet Elliot Gumbi uses water, muthi and prayers to help his congregants, but it seems that the more he helps people, the more trouble he attracts to himself!
A 48-year-old of Thembelihle in Lenasia, Joburg, has had problems since finding shit on his doorstep in July. This month he found a green string coated in what looked like muthi.
And just a week ago his son was burned badly in a fire in his bed.
Elliot said he believed it was vutha.
Tragically, his son, Lucky Ndimande (23), died a few days later in hospital.
Elliot, the pastor of Holy Bambanani Apostolic Church, said he suspected that jealous rivals were behind his miseries.
He said the fire that killed Lucky was suspect as he did not have a candle burning at the time.
Lucky managed to get out of his shack through a hole he broke in the wall.
"He kicked the door of my house to call me and pleaded with me to take him to hospital," said Elliot.
"I called an ambulance."
He said he was very grateful when the ambulance responded quickly.
"Lucky was admitted to the ICU and I prayed to God to save him, but he died," said the pastor.
When the SunTeam spoke to Elliot, he was looking highly stressed. He said he had been praying for his bad luck to end, but with no luck.
"I do not know what to do anymore, but I will keep on praying," he said.
Speaking about the late Lucky, he said: "My boy used to help me a lot around the yard.
"But now he is gone."
