Immigrants with legal documents being detained by SA police

Police in South Africa's Sunnyside are reportedly detaining the immigrants even when they have valid documents amid concerns by the Migrant Workers Union of South Africa.
Union's representative Butholezwe Nyathi, "We have been receiving a lot of complaints about this police station...people with valid legal documents get detained and money is solicited. We cant allow this to continue, we will start with a simple thing....let's call them and let them know that we are aware of their activities. This is a struggle, if you do it for someone who is affected, tomorrow someone will do it for you or for your relative. I called many times when my Administrator was arrested and they wanted R5000 from me for him to be released. I have had many cases/complaints after that incident."
He said they will explore other means to address this issue including getting investigative journalists to get to the bottom of this issue and reporting the station to IPID.
