Elderly couple in court for bribing son's rape victim

A South African elderly couple appeared before Magistrate's Court on Monday on charges of bribery and defeating the ends of justice. A 60-year-old woman and her 66-year-old were arrested in Thabong after they allegedly bribed a 19-year-old rape victim with R2 000, for her to withdraw a case of rape against their son.

Their son was arrested for rape earlier this year. He was also arrested for allegedly raping a 6-year-old child.

All three remained in custody as they were denied bail. The parents would return to court on September 30.
