Pretoria - Bongani Moyo will stand trial in November for an escape attempt last month, when he apparently walked straight out of the Pretoria Magistrate's Court.

Moyo, who together with three co-accused also faces a string of armed robbery charges, last week told the court he would conduct his own defence against the escape charge.

The court, at the request of prosecutor Werner Gibson, ordered that Moyo remain shackled.

He was provided with a docket so he could prepare his defence.

Moyo made headlines when he allegedly walked out of the Pretoria Magistrate's Court, while on crutches, on August 10. He was not locked in a cell or wearing shackles at the time.

He was re-arrested in Hillbrow on August 28.

Moyo also faces a trial on various robbery charges. His co-accused on the robbery charges are Leon Ncube, Khumbalani Sibanda and Thabani Sibanda.

All four are to appear on the robbery charges on October 25.
