The Kasamo family of Thamaga ended the year on a heartwrenching note with their teenage son killing his older brother, three days after Christmas.
The Voice reportedb that on New Year's Day, the family buried their 42 -year- old son, Gopolang Kasamo and had his younger brother locked up in Moshupa prison to await trial for murder.
Still coming to terms with the sad loss of her son and breadwinner Gopolang Kasamo (42), the anguished mother, Martha Kasamo also faces another possibility of losing her younger child who is currently detained at Moshupa Boy's Prison facing murder charges.
Grieving Martha said her younger son had no respect for the family and had on numerous occasions clashed with his older brother, Gopolang who often reprimanded him for his unruly behaviour.
"He had no respect for us. One day the older brother cooked for the whole family and the boy thanked him with these insults; " o ithaya ore ke kgathegela masepanyana a a dijo' (You think I care for your crappy food.) When the family reprimanded him for the bad behavior, he bitterly swore that he was going to kill one of his elder brothers in revenge. We reported his threats to kill to the police but unfortunately the police ordered us to address the matter with the customary court and no action was," she said.
From the police the angry teenager continued to insult family members as he walked away from home.
"The brother followed him pleading with him to return home and that's when he stabbed him on the chest with the knife that belonged to his father and killed him," said Martha who went on to describe the young boy as a kid who grew up well behaved until he started smoking Marijuana.
Officer Commanding for number 11district, Onneetse Dumelang said the teenager has been charged with murder and his trial will be held in the children's court with no audience because of his age.
