Three men from Sowa in the central administrative district appeared at the Francistown Magistrate's court this week charged with taking turns to rape a 23-year-old mentally challenged woman late last year.
The Voice reported that the trio, Refilwe Morafhe, Dikgakololo Babagore and Meleko Kgomotso all aged 19 allegedly lured the woman into the bush at Tshwaane cattlepost in the outskirts of Sowa on November 20 where they asked to her to undress before they took turns to rape her.
Though it is not clear who made the report or what led to the arrest of the trio,Sub-Inspector Daniel Mothothusa of Sowa Police Station who was prosecuting the matter, told a stunned court that investigations into the sexual assault case are complete.
He said the prosecution has enlisted seven witnesses in their bid to prove their case against the alleged three gang rapists.
Mothothusa said the prosecution was not objecting to bail for the alleged rapists on condition that they all attend court as and when they are needed.
Francistown principal magistrate Dumisani Basupi granted the trio bail and ordered them to appear in court every time they are required to do so.
