Businessman accused of killing cyclist

A Gaborone businessman and socialite, Victor Jimere is set to appear in court after he allegedly knocked down a cyclist last weekend causing his death.
The Voice reported that the 43-year old South African man is said to have been cycling along the A1 road when he met his untimely death near Phakalane.
Broadhurst Police Station Commander, Superintendent Bonosi Molapise confirmed the incident.
"Yes we are investigating a case in which a cyclist was killed by a car early Saturday morning. We received the report between 6:00 and 6:20am and immediately went to the scene. Though this is the first incident in my area as the station commander since 2013, I would like to advise road users to be cooperative on the road and take care of other road users."
Jimere is said to have been driving a Mercedes Benz and in the company of two passengers when the accident occurred.
