Thabazimbi - A man is expected to appear in the Thabazimbi Magistrate's Court on Thursday in connection with the murder of a farming couple who were stabbed and burnt to death on December 16 - the Day of Reconciliation.
Brighton Mafanedza, 26, from Zimbabwe, worked as a supervisor for Casper and Magdeline Aucamp, aged 55 and 52, at Faure farm in Cumberland outside Thabazimbi.
The couple had arrived home that evening, only to be attacked and loaded into their Toyota Land Cruiser, said Limpopo police spokesperson Mohale Ramatseba.
He said the vehicle was found burnt out 25km away. The Aucamps' charred bodies were inside.
Mafanedza was arrested on December 18 and police confiscated a cellphone, credit card and R2 000 that is reported to belong to the couple.
The knife believed to be the murder weapon was also recovered.
Mafanedza was not asked to plead to two counts of murder, house robbery and theft of a motor vehicle when he made his first court appearance on December 20 last year.
He was remanded in custody until his next appearance on Thursday.
