The Otjiwarongo Police have arrested a 53-year-old man on charges of illegal possession of fire-arms and ammunition and for having contravened the domestic violence act.
The New Era reported that the man who is expected to appear in the town's magistrate' court today, was arrested at Farm Swartmodder, near the Osire refugee settlement south of Otjiwarongo on Thursday last week.
The police confiscated more than ten fire-arms ranging from semi-automatic assault and hunting rifles as well as several rounds of ammunition.
The Chief Inspector for Operations Katrina Andreas told NBC news that the police made a breakthrough after a tip-off from a member of the public.
Andreas noted that the suspect who also had allegedly threatened to shoot his ex-wife was found in possession of several uniforms of former SWAPO Plan fighters, unita, MPLA, Koevoet, SWATF and SWAPOL as well as NDF.
