A MAN who insisted on using a condom each time he ha sex with wife has been divorced in a Lusaka local court after the lady of the house could not stand it anymore.

Daily Nation reported that this was heard in Kanyama Local Court in which Manyando Liswaniso, 18, of Kanyama compound sued her husband, Mundiya Kalunga, 24, of Garden House compound for divorce.

The two got married in 2014 and have no children.

The wife told the court that Kalunga wanted to be using condoms each time they had sex because did not want to have children with her which she found rather strange.

Liswaniso told Senior Court Magistrate Daniel Phiri that when she married Kalunga he was not working and that it was her relatives who bought food for them.

She explained that four months later Kalunga got a job and completely changed his attitude towards her.

He told her that he could only manage to buy a 10 kg bag of mealie meal and a bottle of cooking oil.

"When I complained to Kalunga's relatives he insulted me and warned that he will ill-treat me," she said.

Liswaniso further said that Kalunga started coming home late at 22.00 hours and that at one time he came home with his pubic hair shaved.

"He told me that where he gets his sexual relief it is where he also gets his pubic hair shaved," she said.

She further told the court that one day she answered his phone and it was his girlfriend who had called and Kalunga insulted her.

"The other time he beat me when I was pregnant. Kalunga's girlfriend phoned and told me that I only have two days in the house and immediately Kalunga wrote me a divorce letter," said Liswaniso.

In cross-examination, Liswaniso said that marriage was about making love, adding that Kalunga denied her conjugal rights because he wanted to be using condoms which found odd.

The leeping in clothes because Kalunga told her that he could not make love to her since she had a bad smell on her body.

In defence, Kalunga said that problems started on September 20, 2015 when Liswaniso started sleeping in clothes and refused to be touched.

He explained that when he wanted to complain to her relatives in October she stopped me from doing so but she continued sleeping in clothes.

Kalunga said they made love on January 5, 2016 and that on January 23, they differed because she had a habit of checking his phone.

Kalunga likened Liswaniso to Mike Tyson because whenever they differed she became physical and that was why he decided to write her a divorce letter.

Asked by the court if he could be given time to be taught some marriage lessons by elders, Kalunga refused claiming that it was Liswaniso who beat him.

Magistrate Phiri granted the couple divorce ordering Kalunga to compensate Liswaniso with K4000 with initial payment of K1000 followed by monthly installments of K400. Property acquired together to be shared equally.
