A woman who allegedly stabbed her brother to death was denied bail when she appeared in the Katutura Magistrate's Court on Monday.
The New Era reported that Beatrice Desiree Awoses was not asked to plead to the charges. Her legal rights were explained to her and she indicated she would apply for a government-funded lawyer through the Directorate of Legal Aid.
The matter was remanded to May 26. Awoses faces a charge of murder read with the provisions of the Domestic Violence Act.
Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi, who is the head of media relations in the Police Public Relations Division, said that in Josef Gariseb Street in Katutura, an argument erupted between Awoses and the deceased Sedrick Awoseb, 25. Awoseb then allegedly stabbed Awoses with a broken bottle.
In retaliation the sister took a knife and stabbed the brother in the neck, causing his death.
