Two men from Tsolamosese were recently whipped after they were found guilty of stealing alcohol and meat respectively from different supermarkets.
The Voice reported that the two appeared before Chief Alfered Dihutso of Mogoditshane Customary court.
According to court records 28-year-old Abel Modisapula stole Exotic fusion alcohol at Trans wholesalers worth P33.00.
Details of the charge sheet are that on January 6 Modisapula went to Trans Wholesalers where he bought a case of black label beer and then tried to walk away with the vodka without paying for it.
The security guard who checked his receipt realised that Modisapula had only paid for the beer yet he also had the vodka which he had not paid for.
He immediately alerted his supervisors leading to Modisapula's arrest.
During mitigation, Modisapula pleaded guilty and asked the court to be lenient on him as he has kids to look after.
Chief Dihutso then ordered that he be given two strokes as punishment for offence.
Still at the same court, another thief, Edwin Ngwenya was also canned four strokes after he was found guilty of stealing two Choppies braai packs, polony and sausages from the chain supermarket.
Ngwenya who is a student at Gaborone Technical College (GTC) pleaded with Dihutso not to jail him as he is scared of prison.
