WHEN the cries coming from her relative's room woke the gogo for a second time, she went to see what was going on.
Daily Sun reported that as she stepped past his curtain door, she walked straight into a horror scene.
She claims she saw her relative (37) standing over his lover's bloodied body – licking her blood from a massive knife he was holding to his lips!
The shocking incident took place last Tuesday in Winterveld, north of Tshwane. The 68-year-old gogo – whose identity cannot be revealed as it could hamper police investigations – said she was still haunted by the cries and seeing the blood of young Nokuvela Khongothela (24).
The gogo said she woke up in the dead of night. "I followed the sound and stood outside his door, asking what was happening. He replied that he was crying.
"I went back to my room but the crying got louder and louder," she said.
"My granddaughter and I went back and we saw Nokuvela covered in blood while my relative held a bloodied knife to his lips," she said.
"When we asked him what was going on, he chased us with the knife and threatened to kill us," she added.
The two women ran outside.
"We called the cops but by the time they arrived he had already run away," she said.
Nokuvela – who was still alive at that stage – was rushed to hospital by ambulance but died on the way to Odi Hospital.
Loate police spokeswoman Constable Pertunia Chabangu said the suspect was arrested on Friday and has been charged with murder.
