The police in Rundu Namibia have arrested four men they allegedly found with cannabis of unspecified value along the Kavango River. They were driving a blue Toyota Corolla at the time that was also seized.
The New Era reported that the four, who are not first-time offenders, were arrested after 18h00 along the river and are expected to make their first court appearance in connection with the case on Monday.
The police said the four suspects were found driving at the riverside. When they saw a police patrol car they tried to evade the police, who then got curious and decided to search their vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, the police found 13 parcels of cannabis in the car.
"Our members were on regular patrol and when they (suspects) saw the police car they tried to run and that made the police suspicious, so they followed and apprehended them and found the cannabis in the car," said Chief Inspector Chrispin Mubebo, who is also the acting Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator of Kavango East.
