Chinese man nabbed with R3m in elephant tusks!

A Chinese national has been arrested in possession of elephant tusks, abalone, sea cucumber and various items of ivory jewellery in Alberton on Satuday, police said.
Lieutenant Colonel Wilfred Kgasago said the Erkurhuleni Metro Police Department drug enforcement unit members had acted on information provided by neighbours.
Kgasago said the metro police found 4kg of abalone, 6kg of sea cucumber, three elephant tusks and various items of ivory jewellery.
"The elephant tusks were estimated to be worth approximately R3m, abalone R20 000, sea cucumber R15 000 and an assortment of drugs valued at R3000," Kgasago said.
One vehicle was confirmed to be have been stolen in Sandton in 2010.
He said charges relating to Sea Fisheries Act were laid against the suspect as well as the possession of a stolen vehicle.
The suspect is expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court soon.
