LIMPOPO health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba launched the province's youth month celebrations in Eldorado Village last Wednesday.
Addressing young people at the Eldorado Sports Ground, the MEC told rural youths to stop chasing sex because it will still be there when they are older.
"Abstain from sex until it's the right time. What will you gain from having sex in a taxi after the driver has offloaded commuters? Will that make you feel special?" asked the MEC.
"Wait for the right time so you can have sex at a luxury hotel.
"I have to say these things because our youth is dying of sexually transmitted diseases," said Ramathuba.
"Make good decisions and don't succumb to peer pressure. Don't be pleased by the presents that your boyfriends and girlfriends buy for you," warned the MEC.
"You peers will lie to you and say all the blood in your body will go to your head if you don't have sex.
"You will definitely fall pregnant and get infected with an STD. Do the right thing and enjoy your youth responsibly."
She encouraged young people to make education fashionable.
"It must start with you. Government will invest in you by offering you a bursary, but you have to make use of the opportunity," she said.
Ramathuba said the class of 1976 fought for the new generation to have a better education.
"Now we have better education because of them, so use the opportunity to go to school."
Dr Ramathuba left a smile on everyone's face when she opened a Youth Centre in the village.
The centre will provide young people with information regarding the careers they wish to pursue.
