SA taxi driver assaults traffic cop for doing his job

A taxi driver in South Africa has been arrested after assaulting a traffic officer and tried to flee the scene, Cape Town traffic services said on Wednesday.
The driver was stopped on Tuesday and given a fine for not having a licence disc displayed on his windscreen.
While the officer was writing out the traffic fine, the driver attacked him unexpectedly.
When the officer tried to arrest him, the driver jumped into his minibus and tried to escape along the shoulder lane of the road.
The minibus then collided with a car at an intersection, he then tried to run away but he was apprehended by the officer.
It was discovered that the driver of the minibus had outstanding fines worth R7 200.
He was charged with reckless and negligent driving, assault, resisting arrest, fleeing from the scene of an accident and failing to comply with a lawful instruction.
The driver will appear in court soon.
