Woman throws baby into a dam

A woman has been arrested for throwing her week-old baby into a dam, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Thursday.

Captain Thulani Zwane said the woman, 20, apparently threw the baby into the dam on Wednesday after its father rejected the child.

The baby's body was found around 11.30am, and the woman was later arrested.

Zwane said she was expected to appear in the KwaMsane Magistrate's Court on Friday on a charge of murder.
