A group of Zimbabweans residing in South Africa under that country's 'Zimbabwe Special Permits' programme have formed a WhatsApp group aimed at
assisting each other on immigration matters.
In a message shared on the group today they claim to have been in touch with "Zimbabwean Lawyers practicing in South Africa who have offered to challenge Home Affairs on our behalf for a possible Permanent Residence Permit." [sic]
According to the message "the lawyers are prepared to help on condition that we mobilise at least 20 000 ZSP holders who wants to renew or get PRPs."
Below is the message from the group:
This group is for Holders of the Zimbabwe Special Permits, as they are due to expire on 31st December 2017 we found Zimbabwean Lawyers practicing in South Africa who have offered to challenge Home Affairs on our behalf for a possible Permanent Residence Permit.
The lawyers are prepared to go to the courts or as far as the constitutional court if Home Affairs fails to deliver. The lawyers are prepared to help on condition that we mobilise at least 20 000 ZSP holders who wants to renew or get PRPs.
They should email edwardchatuta@gmail.com or hand over at House of Hope of Hope Ithemba satellite offices for ZSP programme the following (1).proof of employment or business in SA,
(2). Certified Copy of permit and passport
(3).contact details.
This should be done before 1st September 2016 as the lawyers intend to forward the joint application in September so that the whole process can be completed six months before the expiry of the Zimbabwe Special Permits as stipulated by SA immigration laws.
