Policeman shot in the eye by robbers

A South African police officer was wounded after being shot in the eye during a chase with suspected robbers in Norkem Park, Ekurhuleni, on Thursday, police said.
Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said the constable was in a serious condition in hospital.
He said five robbers were being chased by police when the thugs opened fire. A shoot-out ensued, and the officer was hit in the eye.
The five were suspected of holding up a family in the area where they stole jewellery and cellphones.
No arrests have been made.
