Children were forced to take a break from school today and attend a field day at a farm in Mazowe West district but the event, hosted by Lovemore Kachuwe, was poorly attended. It was dominated by school children and members of the uniformed force.
The event was spear headed by life brand irrigation company.
Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa was supposed to attend the event, however he failed reportedly due to Zanu-PF issues.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Davis Marapira was the guest of honour.
Marapira implored farmers under the 'Command Agriculture' scheme to be faithful and aim for a bumper harvest.
"We would like to thank the president for the command farming program hence l would like to implore farmers to be faithful and work hard to produce a bumper harvest," he said.
Leonard Zhakata played live at the gathering.
The event was characterized by ZANU PF slogans.
