Chamisa turns down 'fake degree' offer

MDC-T vice-president, Nelson Chamisa has refused to join a bandwagon of well known people who are handed honorary doctorate degrees from obscure universities.
Chamisa snubbed once such offer from British institution called the Commonwealth University.
According to reports, Chamisa was asked to pay $3 500 to enable him to attend a leadership seminar before the graduation ceremony.
The awards ceremony is set for June 16 at the Rainbow Towers in Harare.
Chamisa said he does not believe in honorary degrees but believes "in working and achieving and, if I am going to be awarded, it has to be done from a respectable university".
Recently, Higher and Tertiary Education Minister Jonathan Moyo said the government would soon introduce a law to punish people receiving degrees from unaccredited institutions.
MDC-T president Morgan Tsvangirai has an honorary doctorate degree.
