Major boost for state universities

The Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe (IDB Z) says it is geared to construct flats to accommodate students' at all state universities.

The IDBZ said it has a mandatory to ease the housing backlog of the nation by making sure that they provide cheaper accommodation for residents and university students.

Director of infrastructure IDBZ Mr Desmond Matete told ZBC News on the sidelines of the cocktail to thank the media on covering them on their projects in Harare that they are targeted to construct blocks of hostel at national universities to accommodate students since the enrolment is increasing.

Mr Matete also said they are targeting to do housing projects in all the major cities at low cost.

The housing backlog is currently at 1.25 million in the country.
