Ministry set to build, computerise schools

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is set to construct 17 schools and computerise more than 1000 schools countrywide.

In its 100 day plan, the Ministry is set to commence more than three projects next year, the main objective being to improve the education sector.

Speaking during the 2nd workshop of reviewing the new curriculum in Bulawayo, the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Professor Paul Mavima said the ministry will partake in different projects that include computerisation of more schools.

Professor Mavima further explained that the ministry is also benefitting from other projects by other ministries such as the Ministry of Energy and the Rural Electrification Agency.

He added that his ministry will further distribute books to disadvantaged schools before the beginning of the term and has set a programme to improve the learning and teaching in schools.

The Minister also stated that there is going to be the implementation of the national building fund with the finances set to be controlled by the board of trustees in conjunction with the Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe (IDBZ).

The government has also set a target to computerise 2500 schools in the next 5-years.
