APOSTOLIC Faith Mission Cranborne Church has opened an elite school called Light Christian College. The school is offering scholarships to Grade Seven pupils who attained five, six and seven units.
Students who also scored Grade One in English and Maths will be also covered under this scholarship. The school will be paying 50 percent of the fees on this scholarship thanks to AFM overseer Amon Chinyemba for Harare East province who came up with the initiative.
The school, which is located behind Queensdale Shopping Centre, will open this January after being registered with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education in 2015. The school principal, Mr Emmanuel Dzenga, said he was confident the new school will yield fruitful results and mould students with Christian values.
"We are integrating strong Christian values with peak academic performance. In response to some of the vices we see going through in schools like drugs, sex and early marriages among other social evils, we attribute the services to the absence in most schools of elaborate strategic practices that ground our students in authentic Christian principles," he said.
He added: "We have a number of activities that we are going to introduce to build strong values as a panacea.
"We also offer different sporting activities where we are going to link with different institutions which have network connections with different countries like America and South Africa among other countries."
The school offers Cambridge and ZIMSEC for Form 1-6 classes. Principal Dzenga also urged parents to enrol their children with this college which has a mission to produce complete students.
"As the school we will be inviting gurus from different fields so that they mentor our students. We will get in touch with legal practitioners, medical gurus and media people among others to mentor our students.
"In the long run we will send the students to these different fields so as to get the know-how of the practical levels," said Dzenga.
It's a boost to the Hararians and other places in and out of the country. The school offers Commercials, Sciences, Arts and Humanities subjects for O-A Level.
Music is also among the subjects on offer. Sports like hockey, rugby, soccer, cricket, swimming, netball and basketball are offered at the school. Light Christian College urges students to enrol as early as possible. Fees loans are available for registered learners.
Mr Dzenga said the college has a rich spiritual pedigree that will drive its mandate to produce a functional global citizen with a strong moral and spiritual character. It was registered with Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education in 2015 and established under the auspices of Apostolic Faith Mission Church. The educational institution has generous spaces suitable for collaborative learning.
