New curriculum: Government to ensure smooth implementation

The government through the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education said it has noted concerns raised by different stakeholders on the new education curriculum and will continue doing assessments to ensure effective implementation.

The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Professor Paul Mavima said there is no going back on the implementation of the curriculum and that they are working on modalities that will improve strategies thereby addressing concerns by stakeholders.

The Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services has since partnered the Primary and Secondary Education Ministry to help disseminate critical information in the implementation of the curriculum through their different platforms.

There have been concerns by stakeholders in the education sector on the new curriculum which includes the need to train teachers, reviewing tasks and projects undertaken by students to meet the demands of the new curriculum.
