700 borders desert school at night , walk 20km with authorities not noticing

About 700 fed up pupils at Mukaro High School in Masvingo shocked school authorities as they sneaked out of the school at 2am and walked for 20 kilometers to education offices to protest against water and food shortages.

The incident happened on Thursday.

 According to reports the pupils from the Catholic girls run school walked between 2am to 6am to Mpandawana Growth Point in Gutu.

 Gutu District education officer Sylvester Tererai said " The students were at my office at around 6am and they had lots of complaints ranging from water shortages to poor food,".

He said they agreed that the girls return to the school as they are looking into their issues.

When the school authorities heard of the girls stunning move, they sent a school bus to take them back to the school.

 The pupils had on Wednesday boycotted classes.

 It is said that they are using "dirty water laundry, drinking and bathing.
