Nkazhe High School yesterday held its annual speech and prize-giving ceremony at the school in Gwanda.
Speaking at the occasion, Guest of Honour Hloniphani Ndlovu said the destiny of the students is in their hands as what they do today has a greater say in their tomorrow.
Parents were applauded for the hard work they have done. He urged them to keep up the momentum in meeting other education stakeholders half way.
"If it means selling your livestock to secure an education and a future for your children do it," he said.
"I notice that every student here today has a full uniform. I never had a full uniform during my schooling days at Nkazhe. And, by this I encourage students to work hard despite having less of what is required at any given time. Your bright outlook about your future should never be distracted by your present situation," he said.
He expressed optimism that he and other former students would do everything possible to ensure that the school continues to excel in the near future.
Students were advised to take their education seriously as education is the key to success in life and warned them against the urge to indulge in relationships and taking of drugs.
Ndlovu gave maximum respect to Nkazhe High School teachers, past and present, adding that they have done remarkably well over the years.
At the end of the ceremony, prizes were awarded to the students for their outstanding performance.
