The Chancellor of the Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) President Robert Mugabe has capped over 1 560 graduands at the institution's graduation ceremony in Harare.
The 10th graduation ceremony saw the awarding of degrees to the graduands in the faculty of arts and education, commerce and law, science and technology and the faculty of applied social science.
ZOU Vice Chancellor, Primrose Kurasha said the institution believed in quality education for all without any bottlenecks.
"We believe in fulfilling the dreams and aspirations of many who could not have attained such high qualifications in the conventional education system," said Dr Kurasha.
The graduates were hopeful that their qualifications will enhance their careers.
The university has won many medals as well as regional and international awards including the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce award for being the leading university.
The Vice Chancellor is now the Chairperson of the Distance Education Association.
The institution is contributing to national development through the churning out of graduates who are absorbed in government ministries, parastatals and the private sector.
To date, a total of 27 074 students have graduated from the Zimbabwe Open University since the first graduation ceremony in 2003.
