THE Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (Zimsec) has completed marking the Advanced Level 2012
examinations and results are expected between tomorrow and mid-February, an official has said.
In an interview yesterday, Zimsec E-marking project manager, Mr John Maramba dismissed allegations that the A level results had been released.
"It is all a lie. The Zimsec A level results have not been released despite the completion of the marking. The A level results that are rumoured to be out on the social media such as Facebook are for Cambridge A-level examinations not Zimsec," said Mr Maramba.
He said the public examination body was processing the marks to make certain that the results were authentic.
"After the marking is complete, there are several processes that the examination body goes through. As Zimsec our objective is to ensure that every candidate is given the mark that they rightfully deserve.
"At the moment we are at a stage where we are verifying the marks against the candidate and making sure that they match and ascertaining that the examiner did not cheat in favour of or against a school."
Mr Maramba said all these procedures concluded in the remarking stage.
"As soon as all the processes have been gone through, we remark the papers. When we are satisfied and content, we then release the results. We are likely going to release them between tomorrow and mid-February," he said.
Mr Maramba said the examination body was in the process of mobilising financial resources to pay examination markers.
In past years, Zimsec A level results were released at the end of January while those for O level were usually released in February.
The marking of the 2012 O level and A level examinations began in December and a majority of the markers are teachers, who specialise in the different subjects.
