With less than a week before schools open, stakeholders say it is a national priority to resource education providers in the new academic term which also happens to be the main examinations period.

Zimbabwe Teachers Association (ZIMTA) chief executive officer Sifiso Ndlovu says it is crucial for the nation to give adequate resources to the sector at a time when pupils will be sitting for their final examinations.

The ZIMTA CEO also says at such moments, debate on the curriculum's suitability to the country's socio-economic needs must be robust.

Educationist Tapera Chikandiwa says the approach to assisting students must be multi-sectoral with all stakeholders doing introspection on how they intend to ensure Zimbabwe's education remains at the top.

Experts have always called for debate on the curriculum saying it is important for pupils to be equipped to tackle challenges in the country's economy.

The insistence has always been that more resources must be channelled towards supporting industrially relevant skills.
