'Prioritise quality education,' says Grace Mugabe

The First Lady Dr Grace Mugabe has called upon schools to offer quality education that stimulates development of broad-based capabilities and employment creation. Dr Mugabe, who was represented by the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Cde Didymus Mutasa, said this at Kriste Mambo High School in Rusape at the institution's golden jubilee and prize giving ceremony.
Dr Mugabe said there is need to continue emphasizing the entrepreneurial role in all sectors for the country to realise investment and innovation for national growth and prosperity.
The First Lady said the government has come up with the new economic blue print the ZIM ASSET to turn around the country's economic fortunes, adding that education should be relevant in order for the set objectives to be attained.
Dr Mugabe commended Kristen Mambo for championing girl child empowerment noting that the new constitution has also given more emphasis to the upliftment of the girl child.
She commended the school for being a leader in academic excellence and for the establishing world class infrastructure.
Speaking at the same occasion, the Provincial Education Director Mr Edward Shumba said schools should equip students with good morale elements for them to be molded into upright future leaders.
The school head for Kriste Mambo Mr Andrew Mvere said the school had gone through a major transformation which has seen a marked improvement in enrolment and the pass rate.
The school which was established 50 years ago by the Dutch Sisters of Charity with an initial enrolment of 50 students has seen the enrolment pattern increasing up to 557 borders and 40 day scholars.
Students who excelled in different subjects were presented with certificates, trophies and cash prizes at a colourful ceremony which was attended by stakeholders from different sectors of the economy.
The First Lady is a product of Kriste Mambo, having passed through the institution in the early 80s.
