The government has announced an increase in Ordinary Level examination fees and an introduction of examination fees for Grade 7.

The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Dr Lazarus Dokora told journalists in Harare that cabinet resolved to increase Ordinary Level examinations from the current US$13 to US$15 per subject.

The approved examination fees are for written, practical and oral subjects.

The cabinet resolution will also see parents paying Grade 7 examination fees, at a cost yet to be announced.

Minister Dokora said the resolution by cabinet is meant to help cushion ZIMSEC on costs of achieving a tamper-proof examination delivery and monitoring system.

Advanced Level examination fees remain unchanged at US$26 per subject.
