UZ to increase fees by 100%

The University of Zimbabwe is set to increase tuition fees by more than 100% despite the fact that 2 500 students failed to pay fees at the beginning of the current semester due to economic hardships.

Although university officials have not issued a formal announcement, a meeting held by the UZ Council early this month is said to have resolved to increase the students' fees to between $1 000 to $1 300 per semester, depending on the degree programme.
