A 21-year-old from Mashunye Village in Chief Masunda's area was dragged to court after he sent text messages threatening to use mysterious means to kill his father-in-law and the rest of his family unless they gave him back his wife whom they are now staying with. There was laughter in the gallery when it emerged that some of the messages were sent at midnight.
Masvingo Mirror reported that the accused was arrested for contravening section 88 (a), of the Post and Telecommunication Act Chapter 12:03 and he was given a three month suspended jail term by Magistrate Peter Madiba.
Prosecutor Sternly Ncube told the court that on May 13, 2015 and at around 23:30 Makumbirefu sent a message to his father-in-law Farai Ndlela threatening him over her daughter Ruvimbo.
The text read "Ndini Web kana mukasadzosa Ruvimbo kwandiri ndichaverenga mazuva kusvika pandodira, kana ndikaguma kuverenga ndichaita chivi pakati penyu Vandlela ndichaparadza mudzimai wenyu. Achangorwara kwekanguva asi achaenda kwakaenda vamwe.

If l stop counting l will cause an offence to the Ndlela family. I will destroy your wife, she will get sick for a short time and she will go where others went.
"If you do not do what I said l will destroy your children starting from the youngest to the oldest. You will lose your job if you don't do what I am telling you and, you will suffer until you return Ruvimbo.
If you are hard hearted like Job you will go where others went."
