HIGHLANDERS FC striker Gabriel Nyoni, a marketing student at National University of Science Technology (NUST) has launched his Student Representative Committee (SRC) presidency bid.
Early this year, Nyoni revealed he has intentions of venturing into student politics.
He said he draws his inspiration from President Robert Mugabe. "I am an ambitious young man and I will be venturing into student politics at NUST as soon as I finish my attachment in August. I am eyeing the NUST SRC presidency. I will start my campaign after I finish my attachment in August. I am greatly inspired by President Mugabe.," he said back then.
Now he is on a campaign trail.
He posted on his Facebook page : "As a passionate people's person I believe that doing what is required by students who look-up to you for help or assistance holds primary importance and come before what you think is right for students.
"As a presidential candidate for this year's election, I would like to bring to the notice of my fellow university mates at Nust that I abide by the motto 'Let actions speak louder than words and believe in serving in the best interests of all the students.
"A President representing their students at the university and being a voice to their concerns should be easily accessible and prioritise issues addressed by students in a timely manner."
