Cabinet approves new education curriculum

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is now implementing the new curriculum following its endorsement by cabinet on the 22nd of this month.
The Zero Draft Curriculum Framework which was adopted after stakeholder consultations was endorsed by cabinet on the 22nd of this month, ushering in a new era in education premised on vocational curriculum.
The restructuring exercise will be carried out in two phases meant to enhance pupil training and teacher development.
The curriculum will introduce heritage and cultural studies as well as sport, vocational, science and research.
The government is targeting building more than 2 000 institutions of learning under the review.
The adoption is a culmination of the 1999 Nziramasanga Commission of Enquiry and the October 2014 consultative exercise.
