Ngwalongwalo Primary School has since commissioned its administration block as the council run school seek to upgrade its standard of operation through infrastructural development.
This came out in the council latest minutes as the director of Housing and Community Services Isaah Magagula reported that Ngwalongwalo was one of the City of Bulawayo Primary schools and it was situated in Pumula South suburb.
"The parents of the school mobilised resources and built a first of its kind administration block in a Council school. The structure was larger than all other administration blocks found in Council schools and cost $126000 to put up. Council provided the labour to build the structure," reads the council minutes.
"Council now wished to use that plan for newly built schools under their jurisdiction as it provided more space to the users. The school wanted to commission its new administration block on 2 October 2015 just before the current Grade 7s write their national examinations."
The minutes states that the proposed Guest of Honour by the school was the Mayor of the City of Bulawayo.
"The school also requested for assistance in cash or kind towards the success of this momentous occasion," states the minutes.
"It would be recalled that when Malindela Primary School Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centre was commissioned by the Mayor, the Department allowed the use of $500.00 from the school's vote to beef up the school's efforts towards the commissioning of the centre. In that regard, it was also suggested that the same amount from the appropriate school vote be sanctioned to be used by Ngwalongwalo for the success of this occasion. If Council agrees it was proposed that; the school's date of commissioning the administration block on 2 October be confirmed, the Guest of Honour to be the Mayor, the school be assisted with a sum of $500 from its relevant vote to cater for the occasion.
The building was then commissioned on October 2.
