Govt in serious back log on BEAM payment

Government of Zimbabwe is reported to be lagging behind in the payment of Basic Education Assistance Module (BEAM) according to the deputy minister of public service, labour and social services, Tapiwanashe Majaya Matangaidze in parliament.

This was after MDC-T House of Assembly member Eddie Cross asked concernming the issue of BEAM.

"The point that Cross is bringing across is, we have been behind in the disbursements of BEAM," said Matangaidze.

"I am happy to say as we stand right now, we have managed to clear school fees up to the end of 2014 but 2015 is still outstanding. From the look of things, it will be outstanding to the remainder of the year but the programme as it stands will continue. You might also need to know that currently, we are running some exercises or audits to verify the authenticity of the beneficiaries of BEAM."
