Teachers dismayed by pension deductions

Civil servants in the education sector received their eagerly anticipated December salaries by the end of December but were, however, raised dismay at the alleged unilateral decision by government to effect pension deductions.
Long queues at most banking halls were evident across the capital as civil servants in the education sector lined up to withdraw the delayed December salaries.
The development has brought glimmer of hope and ensured a sigh of relief for the disgruntled educators.
Zimbabwe Teachers' Association (ZIMTA) chief executive officer Sifiso Ndlovu confirmed teachers had received their salaries while expressing disappointment on the employer's unilateral decision to effect pension deductions.
According to treasury, salary payment date for the rest of the civil servants has been moved from December 29 to January 5.
Government has also assured the civil servants that they will get all their bonuses.
