THE November 2015 Zimbabwe Schools Examinations Council (Zimsec) Advanced Level results are ready for collection, with the pass rate going up to 87,6 percent from 82,6 percent last year.
Zimsec director Esau Nhandara yesterday urged centre heads to collect the results from Zimsec regional offices.
He said candidates who sat for the November examinations could, as of yesterday, collect their results from their respective schools or centres.
Nhandara said the November 2015 number of candidates increased by 6,4 percent after a total of 41,653 sat for the examinations compared to 39,133 in November 2014.
"The candidature increased by 2,520, a percentage increase of 6,4 percent," said Nhandara.
He said 32,764 school candidates and 8,889 private candidates sat for the examinations. "According to statistics provided, school candidates recorded a 87,6 percent pass rate up from 82, 6 percent in 2014, while private candidates recorded a 63,7 percent pass rate.
"Of the school candidates, 28,510 (87,6 percent) passed two or more subjects with Grade E or better. 7,962 private candidates wrote two or more subjects and 5,069 (63,7) percent candidates passed two or more subjects with Grade E or better," said Nhandara.
He commended all centre heads for running the examinations with integrity and due diligence as there were no leakages. "We would like to extend our gratitude to the examiners and all Zimsec staff who worked tirelessly throughout the marking process to the point where we now have analysis and results to produce to the nation.
"Zimsec hereby takes this opportunity to wish all the candidates the best of luck in their future studies and endeavours," said Nhandara.
