University of Zimbabwe launches research policy

The University of Zimbabwe (UZ) College of Health Sciences has launched a research policy that is expected to make the college more competitive on the international forum.
UZ Vice Chancellor, Professor Levi Nyagura said the policy will provide guidelines for the efficient and effective implementation of research that meets local and international quality standards.
Professor Nyagura noted that research output and the quality of research is key in the ranking of universities the world over and universities that are ranked lower fail to get funding which is crucial in carrying out research work.
UZ College of Health Sciences Dean, Professor Midion Chidzonga and the Director of the Research Support Centre, Professor Exevia Gomo noted that the availability of a research policy will enhance the college's position as a centre of excellence in research.
The launch of the research policy is a milestone since the establishment of the research support centre which is located at Parirenyatwa group of hospitals.
The research support centre was opened two years ago.
