More than 5 000 women have benefitted from self-help projects offered by Tapiwanashe Women's College in Norton with the initiative having unlocked several business opportunities.
The women, who were receiving certificates after attending courses in motor mechanics, computers, home decor and cosmetology among other disciplines, say they have been empowered from the knowledge they have gained.
Empowerment opportunities have been opened for women who have gone through the college.
Beneficiaries of the training programmes say they are now able to generate income for their families apart from broadening their knowledge in various fields.
The founder of Tamiranashe Women's College, Ms Nancy Mbaura says empowering of women by her organisation can be further enhanced by availing more resources.
Efforts to empower women through income generating projects has also been identified as key in ensuring that they also take part in sectors that were previously dominated by men.
Through synergies with partners abroad, women's organisations in the country have now spread their wings with their wares now being sold as far afield as China and Europe.
