Progressive Teachers Union Zimbabwe (PTUZ) has raised fears of a 'dry Christmas" as Government is increasingly  struggling to pay civil servants on time.

On Thursday, Bulawayo24.com revealed that September pay would be delayed with the army getting on the 29th while the bulk of government workers would access their pay in October, stretching to the end of the month.

In a statement, PTUZ said it has tasked the Apex Council to raise the matter with Government.

Below is the full statement :

SEPTEMBER PAY DATES OUT.

Cdes the September pay dates are out.The sad part is that as long as this trend is allowed to continue we will get our December salaries in January 2017.We might have yet another dry Xmas.

Once again the task has to fall on the APEX COUNCIL to rise to the occasion and selflessly represent the constituency and not flinch an inch.The dates are as follows;
ZNA..........................29/9/16
HEALTH...................02/10/16
ZRP/PRISONS.........06/10/16
EDUCATION............14/10/16
ROCS......................21/10/16
PENSIONS..............27/10/16

We await your advice on the way forward.We are however convinced that if the energy exhibited by ZANU PF politicians in their factional fights was to be the same they would show in addressing the challenges this country faces we would not be in the position we are in today.

Someone must remind President Mugabe that our economy needs his attention as well.

We are suffering.
