The headmistress at Mafakela Primary School in Luveve Bulawayo, Miriam Siziba reportedly sent pupils back home for non payment of fees contrary to what the Primary and secondary Education Minister Lazaras Dokora always say that children must not be expelled from school for fees.
Concerned parents said the headmistress sent children home on Wednesday indicating that this was without the consultation of the School Development Committee.
"We are really surprised and baffled by the actions of the headmistress. The minister is on record as saying the children must not be sent back home for non payment of fees," said an angry parent.
The parent said the school has an enrollment of 680 pupils and less than 30 percent of the children have so far paid their fees which means that around 400 students were sent home on the day.
The parent said the SDC has never deliberated or agreed to that move.
