SOS for Blood Group 'O' in Harare

The National Blood Service Zimbabwe says it is concerned about the low stocks of Blood Group O in Harare due to high demand.
The national blood banker's public affairs manager, Ms Esther Massundah told the ZBC News that stocks of Blood Group O in Harare are in a deplorable state due to high demand and appealed for more people to donate the life saving liquid.
She also said talks are underway with the Ministry of Health and Child Care to reach an agreement to reduce the prices of blood as it is beyond the rich of many.
Blood Group type O is the most common type and can be used on people with blood type A or B.
A pint of blood is being sold at US$100 in public hospitals and US$120 in private health institutions.
