50 wards have been set aside at the Wilkins Hospital, Harare, in case Ebola is confirmed in the country.
The Harare City Health Department took journalists from various media houses on a tour of the hospital in an effort to put to rest any speculation that Zimbabwe was not ill prepared.
The medical personnel at the hospital who have undergone special training to demonstrate the 12 steps to be followed when putting on the personal protective kit before handling an affected person expressed optimism the country is prepared to handle Ebola.
In the event that an Ebola case is confirmed in Harare, all the patients already admitted at Wilkins Hospital will be transferred to other institutions.
Harare City Health Director Dr Prosper Chonzi said medical personnel from various sectors, including the defence forces are undergoing training while some have already finished.
