NURSES at Gweru Provincial Hospital are allegedly using their medical aid cards to source drugs from a local pharmacy before they sell them to patients admitted at the hospital.

According to reports the nurse would lie to helpless patients that the hospital has run out of drugs before they bring them via back door and sell them to patients for exorbitant prices.

"The nurses use their medical aid cards to get drugs from the pharmacy. The nurses would tell patients that the hospital has run of drugs so that they sell the ones they have to the patients," reported B-Metro, a Bulawayo-based tabloid.

Contacted for comment the Medical Superintendent for Gweru General Hospital Dr Fabian Mashingaidze declined to comment saying "I am sorry I cannot comment on that."
