Hospital doctors in Zimbabwe warned on Monday they will go on strike again if threats to cut their monthly salaries by more than one third are carried out.

In a press release, the Zimbabwe Hospital Doctors' Association said doctors working at an unnamed hospital in Harare had been told their December salaries would be cut by "at least 100 US" from 283 US dollars, because they took part in a strike over low pay last month.

Members "will not hesitate to immediately withdraw their services" if their salaries were docked, the association said.

The group said its members had been "constantly summoned, threatened and harassed" since the strike ended on November 13.

Doctors at state hospitals mainly in Harare and Bulawayo went on strike on October 27.

They went back to work to allow salary negotiations to proceed.
