Government says it will pay the remaining civil servants their bonuses on 14 and 23 January.
The Acting Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Walter Mzembi confirmed the development, which comes after threats by nurses and doctors that they will go on strike if they are not paid bonuses by tomorrow.
The nurses were threatening a strike although insisting that the envisaged industrial action was not because teachers had received their bonuses but simply on the basis that they deserved it.
With the government acknowledging that treasury is experiencing cash flow challenges, teachers say they now want salaries to be calculated using the poverty datum line which takes cognisance of the ever-changing pricing regime in Zimbabwe.
Government insists that although it is experiencing cash flow challenges, it remains committed to meeting its obligations to the civil servants as promised.
